Whats hot and whats not for Christmas 2008

October 29th, 2008

What is going to be the item that people are flocking for this Christmas? Is the economy going to keep people from splurging for that hot and hard to find item? Or is it the fact that everything is same old same old this year? I usually am one of the people standing in line to get that hard to find item so I can run home to put it on Ebay, but due to the boycott (see www.EbayFeegouge.com) I am no longer selling on their site. So I can sit back this year and just observe and report what I see, and so far I havent seen anything. The Elmo live has been a big let down for sellers from what I have seen, but what can you expect when a new version comes out every other year. Not to mention it is the highest price ever at roughly $60.00. The Nintendo Wii is still selling strong, but they are getting pretty easy to find and the demand is not quite as great so I dont think they will be fetching premium prices this holiday season. The Wii Fit exercise game that came out over the summer on the other hand still has a chance. They are still steadily fetching $20-30.00 over what they cost at the store. So there is a chance they will get scarce and might get up around $150.00 or so after Thanksgiving when the shopping season officially kicks off. I have also noticed the Disney Cars new diecast collection has released and as usual some of them are fetching a higher price right now, but if you just wait they will come down as quick as they went up.  I did run across and item that showed potential in my searches. It was something called “Kipper the talking dog”. I only found one on Ebay and it was sitting at $76.00. There were some other people that had put up the beanie version, but it wasnt fetching as much. So keep an eye out for that one. The bottom line I guess would be that this Christmas shopping season you may as well save your time and energy and shop from the comfort of home at one of the many online malls at your finertips such as www.CharityBuyz.com or even check out the www.JonasBrothersBlog.com charity mall. If you start now you will have a greater chance of getting that hard to find item, and waiting for shipping wont be a problem!!

Ebay and Paypal are getting desperate!!

August 31st, 2008

I just watched the Ebay interview on the news last night. I think somebody is getting a little desperate. Do we really need a lesson on how to search on Ebay?? Who was this lady anyway? Is she an Ebay employee? She needs to get a few facts straight before going on tv. She claims it cost under $1.00 to list. That is true, but for under $1.00 your item will not be seen by more than 20 or so people. She forgot to mention all the levels of listing fees. If you dont use premium listing, featured item or borders or highlights all well over $1.00, your item won’t get any exposure. Go give it a try. It will cost you anywhere from $5.00-20.00 for any real exposure. Then the final value fee she got wrong,it is actually lower. Only a mear 8.75% on top of the listing fee. Then of course you can’t forget the paypal fees to finish off the transaction. On a $50.00 sale you will be doing good to actually see about $30-$35.00 when its all said and done. Then the mention of paypal being safe. That is just crazy talk. It is safe for scammers. All I have to say about paypal is beware of the chargeback. It is getting very common to have a sale go through and after you mail the item you go see the buyer has initiated an automatic chargeback to get their money back and Paypal dont do jack about it. It is nothing more than a garage sale option now. If you are selling items you no longer need just to get something back out of them it is good. As for selling to make money or run a business it just isnt worth it anymore. Post your thoughts on the matter at www.EbayFeeGouge.com
