Amoeba Music and The New Beverly Theatre are proud to present some of cult film favorites at Los Angeles’ last full-time revival movie theater. See movies the way they’re meant to be seen - on the big screen and with an audience! A different film is showcased most Saturdays at midnight. All seats to the midnight shows are $7.00.

November 1 - Alien Nation (1988)
A few years from now, Earth will have the first contact with an alien civilization. These aliens, known as Newcomers, slowly begin to be integrated into human society after years of quarantine but are victims of a new type of discrimination.

November 8 - The Stepfather (1987)
All about a “family values” man Jerry Blake who marries widows and divorcĂ©es with children in search of the perfect family. As soon as his new family members show signs of being human and not robots who will march unquestioningly to his tune, his dreams of domestic bliss begins to crumble, and he kills them. Then he alters his appearance, assumes an new identity, and skips to another town to begin the deadly ritual all over again

November 15 - William Friedkin’s Sorcerer (1977)
A group of outcasts from different backgrounds/nationalities are forced by misfortune to work in a remote oil drilling operation in South America. When fire breaks out of control, the outcasts are given the opportunity to earn enough money to get out by transporting two crates of unstable nitroglycerin through miles of jungle in ancient trucks. Will they succeed and regain their honor and citizenship, or get blown up for their efforts?

8th Annual Shriekfest Film Festival Awards

Shriekfest is an international festival and screenplay competition dedicated to getting horror/thriller/sci-fi/fantasy filmmakers and screenwriters the recognition they deserve. What makes their festival unique is that they proactively help the filmmakers and screenwriters by promoting their work to the industry.

The 2008 Shriekfest Film Festival Awards took place at Raleigh Studios, located at 5300 Melrose in Hollywood, CA. The screenings take place in the beautiful Chaplin Theatre which seats 171 people. The Chaplin Theatre also has Dolby surround sound capabilities.

Synopsis: It’s Halloween night in Brooklyn. It turns out to be a lethal trap set by a gang of deranged hipster artists. Their plan is to lure someone to their remote warehouse base and ritually murder them as part of an extreme artistic event. As the booze-and-drug-fueled night wears on, rivalries within the group flare up with violent consequences. A body count accrues and Chris must take advantage of the ensuing chaos if he’s ever to escape the warehouse and survive the night. A deliciously over-the-top horror comedy written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier.
